The New Mexico Breastfeeding Task Force is delighted to announce that our partners Health Connect One, First Food Equity: Community Project have provided NMBTF funding to offer scholarships to BIPOC healthcare providers in Southern NM to increase their lactation education

 

This one-time scholarship opportunity is only available to self-identified Black, Indigenous or Person of Color healthcare providers living and working in Southern New Mexico to support their efforts to increase their lactation education. In addition, we ask all recipients of our scholarship to share their experience after completing their training and how it impacted their work.

Limited scholarships of $500-$1,000 available. Please review all necessary requirements for applying.

General Requirements

- The candidate must identify as a Black, Indigenous or Person of Color

- The candidate must live and work in the southeast or southwest region of New Mexico

-The candidate must currently be working in the healthcare field serving families in southern New Mexico.

- The candidate must be invested in increasing their lactation education and have identified an training course or program they wish to take.

- The candidate must commit to submitting a report on their progress upon completion of the training.

- The candidate must submit a description of intended use for the funding they are requesting.

-Priority will be given to candidates who work in rural communities.

- Priority will be given to candidates who work in underserved communities in the southeast region of New Mexico with limited access to Lactation services.

- The application must include a letter of recommendation.

- The candidate must explain how they personally plan to promote, protect, and support lactation in NM.

-The candidate must be a current member of the New Mexico Breastfeeding Task Force.

DEADLINE TO APPLY

All application materials for the scholarship must be received by April 22, 2022, at 5pm MST.

Candidates approved for the scholarship will be notified by April 29, 2022.
